Pray for our team as we are serving Christ in West Africa and for Amanda (pictured in burgandy) as she is our anchor and prayer warrior at home.

A few pictures of our first day

Marcella starting off the morning with a fun game with the children. We have an awesome room that the children are learning in. Today was the story of creation and we made a "7 days of creation" poster with each of the children and hung them all over the room. What a sight! We got to see all of the ideas stored up in these brilliant childrens minds on paper. When I say brilliant, I mean brilliant. There is a 7 year old who is fluent in latin, english and his tribes language. I was blown away! These children are teaching us so much and its incredible what God is doing for us and through us. God is so GOOD!
We took the M. kids to a fellow M's house for some pb and j sandwhiches, chips and fruit. This typical American lunch was greatly appreciated as the children are used to typical Senegalese food. What a blessing they have been to our group!

Danielle (in blue dress), Cindy (with sunglasses) , Kimberly (bandana) and I (the blonde in the red) eating chebby jem (Fish and red rice) from a common bowl. They were teaching me (a newcomer to the common bowl) the proper way to eat, what to eat when, and the spices I should avoid. We used spoons this time, but it might be with our hands next time. Made with mostly red rice, this dish also contains lime, spices, two different types of fish (complete with the fish heads) carrots, cabbage, potatoes, and other UFOs - unidentified food objects. ;)

  1. I'm so glad to hear about your amazing first day! How exciting! Do the children flock you like they do over here "mama Amy"? Tell the team I said hi! I'm praying for your energy levels today. So I came across this verse last night: Hebrews 4:3, "For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls." So no matter what happens, just remember that He's experienced it all. When you're feeling exhausted, He understands. I love you guys. :) Get some rest tonight girl! Can't wait to see you Sunday on the big screen!
